ARTIST NOTES: Do you remember sliding into a booth of a favourite diner? We would select a song from that shiny little box next to the wall, and then drop a nickel into the slot. After just a few moments, our song would start playing loudly from the jukebox in the corner, and the diner would come alive with music!

ARTIST BIO

I am a photographer and author who loves vintage objects, old buildings and history in general, and with a passion to share this history through my work.

I discovered photography by accident about 20 years ago while travelling in France with friends in the band Claymore. Before walking on stage, one of the guys threw a camera to me and said, “See if you can get some good shots”. I became captivated by photography. I enrolled in a photographic course, joined a local photographic society and have gone on to win awards up to national level.

My interest in vintage objects led me to collect mostly mechanical things from our past, as I was fascinated by how people lived before the advances of technology in the latter part of the 20th century. More recently I started photographing these wonderful things we no longer use, showcasing them in scenes where they may have once stood. Over the next two years, I found, researched and photographed 50 oft-forgotten items to bring them back to life. These images make up the series called “Nostalgique”, and have also been published in a photographic book by the same name.

Another series of images I have created has come from my travels over the years and is still a work in progress. It is called “Landmark” and captures beautiful historic buildings from around the world. Every building may be widely recognisable or just known to a local area, but all have appealed to me in some way. Each image captures the landmark in a vibrant and sometimes dramatic way to impart its character and history.

You can find more information about myself and my work on my website: Nostalgique.com.au. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message. I am always happy to help!
