I am a Japanese woman who worked as a graphic designer in Japan, before relocating to Australia 36 years ago. I only found my love of watercolour at the age of 60 and have enjoyed painting the Australian native flora and fauna since. Gum trees, wildlife and also pets excite me as does the challenges of portraits.
Returning home after a holiday to Zambia, Africa 7 years ago, my husband and I started a boys home for orphans. Currently 12 boys in residence, they now receive shelter, food, medical treatment, medicines and an education. Far removed from their homelessness and begging for food on the streets just for survival.
Each year, one area requiring extra funding is education. As the the boys grow older they graduate and move toward a higher level of education, at a considerable higher cost. This year Godfrey qualified for university to study medical science. Another, young adult; Moses recieved exceptionly high marks and has been recommended to a boarding college.
All proceeds from my sold works go directly to the boys home fund account for such expenses. This project keeps me painting continuously in an effort to raise more. It is an absolute joy to be able to help this cause and know the boys are recieving some assistance. I feel proud when doing so.
